The editors of Nashim No. 49 invite submissions for the journal’s spring 2027 issue titled Fighting for a New World: Radical Jewish Women in the Long Twentieth Century. The issue will focus on the lives and activities of radical Jewish women in various political movements and across geographical, cultural and historical contexts, providing a platform for examining diverse phenomena that fall under the category of “radical.” The editors aim to discuss such questions as: What is radicalism? What and where are the links between radicalism and feminism? Under examination are also processes through which gender-related questions are shaped as well as mutual ties between presentation and reality, and the processes of social, national and familial constructions. The editors seek contributions from diverse fields such as religious studies, Jewish studies, law, anthropology, sociology, history, political science and literature.
Proposals for submissions may contain up 12,000 words and cannot be previously published or under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Deadline for submissions: May 1, 2026 | Details
