Position: Frances and Laurence Weinstein Chair in Modern European Jewish History, University of Wisconsin-Madison
The Mosse/Weinstein Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for the Frances and Laurence Weinstein Chair in Modern European Jewish History. The position is at the rank of Assistant Professor with tenure in the Center for Jewish Studies. The search is open to scholars of modern European Jewish history from 1750 to the present, with geographic field and chronological focus open. Teaching responsibilities include courses in modern European Jewish history and at least one course per year on the Holocaust. An endowment provides an annual fund for public-facing programs related to the Holocaust. A Ph.D. in history is required at time of appointment, and candidates must be proficient in the languages of their region of study. Proficiency in Hebrew, Yiddish, or Ladino is preferred.
