Fellowship: Between Mind and World in Premodern Jewish Life, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia

The Herbert D. Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for its 2027–28 fellowship year on the theme Between Mind and World in Premodern Jewish Life. The program supports research that connects premodern Jewish thought and expression to the material and social worlds in which it developed, and welcomes scholars from any field of premodern Jewish history and culture between the Hellenistic period and the end of the European Middle Ages in the sixteenth century. Selected fellows receive a stipend and the time and resources to pursue their projects, and are expected to live in Philadelphia and engage in the intellectual life of the fellowship community for a full academic year or a single semester. All applicants must hold a doctoral degree by the start of the fellowship.
