Digitization Project: Universal Yiddish Library. Yiddish Book Center, Amherst

The Yiddish Book Center has joined the Knowledge Unlatched consortium with its Universal Yiddish Library digitization initiative, developed in partnership with the National Library of Israel, the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research and the New York Public Library. Libraries and institutions are invited to support open access digitization of Yiddish monographs from 1600 to 1940 that have historically been accessible only in print. Building on a corpus of nearly 20,000 digitized titles, collective pledges ensure that Yiddish cultural heritage remains openly discoverable for researchers worldwide.
