Call for Applications: Moritz Steinschneider Research Prize 2027

The Department of Jewish Studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and the publisher De Gruyter Brillaward the Moritz Steinschneider Research Prize for 2027. It is aimed at early career scholars from the doctorate to the habilitation whose work opens up premodern Jewish primary sources. Eligible contributions include the identification of previously unknown texts in Hebrew, Aramaic, Judeo-Arabic or another Jewish language as well as editions and translations that make inaccessible sources available to a wider readership. The prize consists of a book voucher of 1,000 euros and a publishing contract for the awarded work without publication costs. Submitted works must have been completed within the past five years and written in German or English. The prize is awarded with the Gershom Scholem Lecture in Munich.
