Call for Applications: Summer Institute 2027, Schusterman Center for Israel Studies, Brandeis University
The Schusterman Center for Israel Studies at Brandeis University invites applications for the Summer Institute for Israel Studies 2027. Running since 2004, the programme prepares faculty worldwide to teach Israel Studies in their respective disciplines and has to date trained 393 scholars at 275 institutions in 35 countries. The programme consists of two parts. It begins with a ten-day residency at Brandeis University featuring seminars by distinguished Israel Studies scholars on Israeli society, history, politics, culture, and foreign affairs, during which fellows draft a syllabus for a course of their own and present it at a group workshop. This is followed by a ten-day study tour of Israel with meetings with Jewish and Arab intellectuals, politicians, and community leaders, as well as visits to historical and cultural sites. The fellowship covers travel, accommodation, most meals, and a stipend of 2,500 US dollars for US residents and 3,000 US dollars for those residing outside the US. Applicants must be actively teaching at a college or university outside Israel that has approved plans either to introduce a new course on Israel Studies or to substantially integrate it into an existing course.
Deadline for applications: October 1, 2026 | DETAILS
