Bridges Across the Continent. Jewish Worlds Between Venice and Amsterdam, Potsdam
5. Juni 2026
The University of Potsdam hosts an international conference exploring the multifaceted relationships between Venice and Amsterdam as the two most influential centres of early modern Jewish life taking place in August 24–26, 2026. The conference proposes a dynamic and reciprocal perspective on the continuing exchanges of people, books, ideas, goods, and capital between the Lagoon and the Low Countries, moving beyond narratives that treat the two cities as successive stages in the development of Jewish modernity. Travel and accommodation costs for accepted participants are covered by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation. Early-career researchers are warmly encouraged to apply.
Deadline for proposals: June 14, 2026 | DETAILS
