Conference: The First Annual Forum for Yiddish Studies, The National Library of Israel

The National Library of Israel in Jerusalem invites researchers from Israel and around the world to the first Annual Forum for Yiddish Studies, focusing on Yiddish culture and its unique collections at the National Library. The forum will serve as an annual platform for Yiddish scholars and is organized in collaboration with the Historical Jewish Press project of the National Library of Israel and Tel Aviv University.

We welcome proposals for presentations on the following topics:

• Yiddish press from thematic perspectives (women writers, press in displaced persons camps, etc.)
• Yiddish press in geographical context (Israel, Europe, South Africa, North & South America, Australia)
• Yiddish collections at the National Library – archives, manuscripts, rare books, and special items
• Preservation and accessibility of Yiddish cultural heritage
• Interdisciplinary research in Yiddish culture
