Resource: Library of Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin. Digital Catalogue and Provenance Database
The Yeshiva Digital Library is a project of the Ośrodek Brama Grodzka - Teatr NN in Lublin dedicated to the digital reconstruction of the library of Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin. The collection numbered tens of thousands of volumes in 1939 and was long considered lost, with only five surviving books known until recently. Through the project's research has now been identified hundreds of volumes bearing the Lublin yeshiva's ownership stamps in libraries around the world. The database records these books according to their provenance marks and allows searches by author, place of printing, printer, current location, subject, and imprint date from 1500 to 1939. The catalogue is complemented by statistical analyses of printing locations, current holdings, stamp types, and the share of Rabbi Meir Shapira's collection. The interface is available in Polish, English, and Hebrew. The project is coordinated by Piotr Nazaruk and Monika Tarajko.
