CfA: Footprints Collaborative Research Volume, Footprints: Jewish Books Through Time and Place

July 24, 2026

The Footprints: Jewish Books Through Time and Place project invites applications to join a collaborative book history research project on early printed Hebraica and Judaica. The goal is a multi-authored volume of case study chapters based on the Footprints database. Participants will pursue an individual research project within the scope of Footprints, contribute data to the database in the course of their work, and submit a chapter of original research for the volume. Possible topics include the reach and impact of a particular press, the spread of books from one geographic area to another, the impact of a particular book or author, the formation or dispersal of collections, and the dissemination of particular genres. Footprints traces the history and movement of Jewish books printed before 1800, from publication to the present. Accepted participants will be invited to two in-person gatherings in the Eastern United States, expected in May 2027 and 2028.

Deadline for proposals: October 5, 2026 | DETAILS
