New degree program: M.A. in Central and East European Studies, European University Viadrina
The European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) is launching the master's programme Central and East European Studies in the winter semester 2026/27. The multilingual, interdisciplinary program combines a regional focus on Central and Eastern Europe with cultural studies approaches, bringing together history, literary studies, and social sciences with Jewish Studies, German Studies, and Slavic Studies. Teaching takes place on the cross-border campus in the German-Polish twin cities of Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice. The programme can be completed entirely in English or largely in German, with selected courses offered in other Central and Eastern European languages. Optional double degrees are available at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków and at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca. Applicants need a first degree including at least 30 ECTS with a Central or Eastern European focus, English at B2 level, and Polish, Ukrainian, or Russian at B1 level. There is no admission restriction and no tuition fee. An online information event takes place on August 27.
