Event series: TISH Jewish Food Festival. Together, POLIN Museum Warsaw
The POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews hosts the ninth TISH Jewish Food Festival from September 9 to 13, 2026. The festival explores the Jewish culinary traditions of Poland and Lithuania, rooted in the shared Ashkenazi heritage of East-Central Europe yet marked by distinct differences. This edition marks the 140th birthday of Fania Levando, who ran a vegetarian restaurant in prewar Vilnius and promoted plant-based cooking out of ethical conviction. The programme includes culinary guided tours, workshops, city walks, a Shabbat dinner, and a cooking show devoted to Lithuanian cold beet soup. Alongside the museum, the Center for Yiddish Culture, the Museum of Warsaw, the Jewish Community Centre, and guests from Lithuania take part. The festival coincides with Rosh Hashanah, and selected events are interpreted into Polish Sign Language. TISH received the European Heritage Award in 2022.
