Position: Librarian and Archivist, Leo Baeck Institute London

Sept. 18, 2026

The Leo Baeck Institute London is seeking an experienced Librarian and Archivist to take action in the development, organisation, and accessibility of its specialist library and archival collections. Duties include new acquisitions of published material as well as private and family papers. A central priority is the cataloguing of the institute's own archive, comprising more than seventy years of institutional records, which is to be assessed, arranged, and described with appropriate finding aids. The postholder also contributes to preservation, supports researchers, and liaises with donors and partner institutions. Applicants should be professionally qualified in archives, librarianship, or information science, or have equivalent experience, with a background in cataloguing archival or library collections and confidence working with historical material in German. Experience with institutional archives, personal papers, special collections, digitisation, or German-Jewish history is welcome, and knowledge of Hebrew or Yiddish is an advantage.
