Position: Endowed Professorship of Jewish History, Western Washington University

The History Department at Western Washington University in Bellingham seeks a tenure-track assistant professor specialising in Jewish history, beginning September 16, 2027. Teaching responsibilities comprise six five-credit in-person courses across three quarters, including two lower-division surveys, a course on the history of the Holocaust, and three further courses in the candidate's specialty. Research and publication in the candidate's field are also expected. A PhD in history or a related field is required, or ABD status with the degree completed by June 15 of the first year of employment, along with specialisation in Jewish history and the ability to teach courses in Jewish history and the Holocaust. The department comprises eighteen tenured or tenure-track faculty and encourages participation in interdisciplinary programmes, among them the Ray Wolpow Institute for the Study of the Holocaust, Genocide, and Crimes Against Humanity.
