The Faculty for Linguistics, Cultures and Arts at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main invites applications for a W2 Professorship for Modern Judaism with a Focus on Israel at the Seminar for Jewish Studies, to begin at the earliest possible date in Frankfurt am Main. The professorship represents Israel Studies as part of Jewish Studies and covers both Israel and the Judaism of the modern diaspora in teaching. It is closely tied to the LOEWE Center Dynamics of Religion, where the holder contributes through an own subproject. Candidates bring strong research experience on the history and culture of the State of Israel and Israeli society, including its religious and interreligious dimensions. German-language teaching is required within two years.
