Grant: Call for Fellowships 2027/28, Vienna Wiesenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies
The Vienna Wiesenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies invites applications for its fellowships for the academic year 2027/28. Conceived during Simon Wiesenthal's lifetime, the institute is dedicated to research on and documentation of antisemitism, racism, nationalism, with a focus on the Holocaust in its European context including its antecedents and aftermath. On offer are two senior fellowships, two to four research fellowships, two to four junior fellowships, and one Fortunoff-VWI research fellowship, for periods of between five and ten months. Senior fellowships are awarded to scholars with a doctorate, exceptional publications, and several years of academic experience, research fellowships to scholars with a doctorate and publications in their field, and junior fellowships to doctoral candidates. Applicants are free to choose topic, approach, and methodology within the institute's research interests. The VWI archives are available and should be drawn upon. Applications from the digital humanities are explicitly encouraged. Fellows must be regularly present at the institute, and selection is made by the International Academic Advisory Board.
