Grant: Mark and Ruth Luckens International Prize in Jewish Thought and Culture, University of Kentucky
The Jewish Studies Program at the University of Kentucky invites entries for its annual Mark and Ruth Luckens Essay Competition. The prize is awarded to the best unpublished original essay that is also suitable for oral presentation to a general audience, written by a graduate student or recent PhD who does not hold a tenure-track position. The award carries 500 US dollars, and the author of the winning essay will give a public lecture in connection with the programme in spring 2027. Essays should run to 5,000 to 7,000 words including notes and citations, and longer submissions will not be considered. A 100 to 250 word abstract and a current CV should accompany the entry. All submissions must be in English and will be judged by an interdisciplinary committee of faculty affiliated with the programme.
