Fritz Theodor Epstein-Prize

The Association of Historians of Eastern Europe (VOH) awards the Fritz T. Epstein Prize in recognition of outstanding doctoral theses relating to the field of Eastern European history. The VOH honours theses written in German or English by young scholars from German-speaking countries or who are German-speaking, provided they are innovative, empirically sound, methodologically and theoretically well-considered, and written in clear, precise language.

From July 2026 until 31 October 2026, dissertations that have been defended since September 2024 may be nominated.
