Conference: What Makes a Diaspora?, University of Cologne, Cologne

This workshop brings American studies, Middle Eastern and North African studies, and Jewish studies into a conversation to examine how diasporic formations emerge among minority communities in the Americas. Organized by the Consortium for Jewish Studies Across the Americas, the event explores how migration, transnationalism, communal institutions, and collective memory shape diasporic identities across Jewish, Arab, Armenian, and other MENA communities. The workshop takes place in person at the University of Cologne on May 24 and 25, 2027.
