Call for Papers: Ways of Knowing. Methodologies in Jewish Studies

Oct. 27, 2026

The Jewish Studies Graduate Student Association at Indiana University invites proposals for its fifteenth annual conference, to be held in person on the Bloomington campus from February 4 to 5, 2027. The conference turns attention to the process of research itself and asks how scholars of Jews, Jewishness and Judaism choose and evaluate their sources. Contributions may address how linguistic barriers, lost archives or researcher assumptions shape the questions that get asked, or how new technologies and community projects are changing research practice. The conference is interdisciplinary and welcomes papers from fields such as anthropology, folklore and media studies. Graduate students and advanced undergraduates may apply, the latter with one academic reference. Registration and attendance are free and financial assistance may be available.

Deadline for proposals: November 5, 2026 | DETAILS
