Call for Papers: Historicizing the Refugee Experience 17th-21st Centuries
The University of Tübingen hosts the seventh International Seminar in Historical Refugee Studies from June 28 to July 1, 2027, together with the University of Vienna, the University of Gothenburg and the American Historical Association. The seminar brings together 14 advanced doctoral candidates and early postdocs whose projects examine refugees in different periods and places, with the aim of countering the view of flight as a recent phenomenon. Possible topics range from exile diasporas and reception policies to the infrastructures of exile such as camps and networks. Applications from neighbouring disciplines are welcome if they make the historical dimension explicit. The organisers cover basic travel and accommodation costs.
