Call for Proposals: British and Irish Association for Jewish Studies (BIAJS) Annual Conference 2027
The British and Irish Association for Jewish Studies holds its annual conference from June 28-30, 2027 at the University of Leeds. Under the theme Rethinking Pluralism and Peripheries in Jewish Studies, the conference asks who and what counts as centre and as margin in the field, and what follows from that. Proposals are welcome from all areas of Jewish Studies, among them history and linguistics, and explicitly from scholars who see themselves on the margins of the subject. Confirmed speakers include Francesca Stavrakopoulou and Edward Kessler. Papers last 20 minutes and are followed by 10 minutes of discussion. The EAJS funds ten bursaries of 200 pounds for postgraduate students, who also receive a fee waiver.
