Call for Applications: Oxford School of Rare Jewish Languages, Michaelmas Term 20261
The Oxford School of Rare Jewish Languages at the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies has opened applications for language classes starting in Michaelmas Term 2026. Languages taught in the 2026-27 academic year include Haketia, Baghdadi and Classical Judeo-Arabic, Judeo-French, Judeo-Greek, Judeo-Italian, Judeo-Persian, Judeo-Neo-Aramaic, Karaim, Ladino, Old Yiddish, and Yiddish. Classes are held online via Zoom and taught by leading academics. Places are limited and priority is given to current university students worldwide, particularly those studying Hebrew, Jewish Studies, or languages, though everyone is welcome to apply. Certificates of Participation are available subject to attendance requirements. The school also hosts Jewish music classes, a lecture series, and a Visiting Fellows programme.
