Call for Applications: Intensive Yiddish Program
An advanced Yiddish winter seminar on the theme Yiddish in Postwar Germany will take place from February 22 to 27, 2027 in Munich and Föhrenwald. Participants examine the history of the Yiddish language and its speakers after the Second World War, in particular in the Jewish Displaced Persons camps and in Munich. The program combines intensive language courses on two levels, taught by Sharon Bar-Kochva and Natalia Krynicka, with lectures and workshops at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, tours of postwar Jewish Munich and a day trip to the BADEHAUS museum at the former DP camp of Föhrenwald. Most of the program is held in Yiddish. Tuition is 330 Euro plus a 50 Euro registration fee, and scholarships are available.
