Feb. 9, 2026

From May 4 to 7, 2026, the Centre Marc Bloch, Berlin, in collaboration with the University of Orléans, will host the workshop “The House as a Living Memory: Between Cultural Heritage and Migration,” which examines the relationship to houses from the perspective of migration and memory history and is aimed at young researchers in the humanities and social sciences. The workshop “The House as Living Memory” examines these interconnections between heritage, migration, and memory through the emotional attachment to houses and the stories they tell and that are told about them. The focus of reflection is on the house as an interface between the intimate and the collective, between everyday practices and institutional discourses.
